Love’s Descent

Weightless and wanting, in a world of white,

Each snowflake holds a dream,

They fall around me, in the absent night,

Till my thoughts are cold and lean,

A hush envelopes the naked trees,

Who once whispered in the wind,

At the Old Man’s mercy, bereft of leaves,

The winter marches in.
