Solitude

Shh, you can hear it, if your mind is quiet… A gentil listening, a softening of the senses perhaps and just there, you will feel it….A rushing of blood in the ears, the veins, pumping through your heart. It is like putting a shell up to your ear and hearing the ocean…

I am held in these moments. Cradled perfectly in the arms of solitude, hearing everything the madness of social activity drowns out in the day… Hearing the wind before it brushes my cheek, noticing a Chickadee flitting in the ferns, spotting a raven lurking in the pines…

I fill myself on these things as if they were gasoline, or popey’s can of spinach.

I am a loner, hear me roar.
