A Thorny Rose

I care not anymore, to find someone to hold me,

In this dirty world I can hold my own,

Like the earth will hold the sea,

I am not a delicate flower, I have sharp thorns,

So any who try to pluck this bloom,

Better be severely warned,

If you’re looking for a blushing, pretty lass,

You just walk on by my friend,

I have a bit more class,

No longer do I seek any merciful arms,

To warm my chilly heart,

I know how fire harms,

So please take away that tempting bait,

Of smiles in the dark of night,

Beyond your open gate.
