Breaking It Gently

Hush now, don’t fear, I will break it to you gently. I will murmmer it quietly into your ear, my breath lightly stirring those little hairs, just there.

I will make of it a song, a lullaby to send you off to sleep perhaps, rocking you lightly in your nest of dreams.

Do not flee from my revelations, the secrets of a poet’s soul. It is not a monster lurking in your closet, only the shadows of metaphor hiding in the darkness… Some words fear the light of day.

So listen well, and I shall say it now while the night still breathes…

          This too shall pass…

                                 Even you.
