Journal Entry 7/1

“My wings flew onwards, till the horizon fell away and the clouds parted on blue skies. I flew until the radio waves warbled and fell short. I flew until the great asphalt serpent slenderly turned into a gravel road. I flew until the rivers were deep and muddy and the lakes were warm and clear. I flew until my phone ran out of minutes and my pockets emptied out… I flew until the tall mountains and the shading trees no longer held me contained in this little valley…

How many seas must a white dove sail, before she sleeps in the sand? A question I still have not found an answer for…

My skin peeled away like the layers of memory from summers passed. Filling the empty space in my heart with the sounds of BB King and Jack Johnson…

Sleepless in a humid night, toes being tickled by the grass, humming the tune that summons your image like a ghost on the breeze… A thousand miles seems pretty far until you realize that distance is only relative… All that space between us means absolutely nothing if you are standing here beside me, watching shooting stars travel across the midnight sky…

Yes, you are here with me, you faceless, nameless, unknown love. I can feel you as you breathe, hear your whispers in my ear, and the white dove sails over yet another ocean of tears…

This moment is perfect… The crickets, the stars, the smell of jasmine… I wish only that I had someone to share it with… It seems I have flown from the cage, but the bars in my heart still make of me a prisoner…”
