Cold Comforts

Laughter melts like snowflakes on my tongue,

I drink it down,

Quenching a desperate thirst,

Cold air fills sharply, my expanding lungs,

Blends with mist,

Among mental star bursts,

Not for wishing these celestial flames,

That have forgotten,

The power of their names,

Playing only a firefly’s elusive games,

Through blameless clouds,

And winter rains.
