Borrowed Time

In my blood,

Beneath my skin,

Doubt like maggots,

Burrow in,

Shadows waver,

On rune stones,

That cast the wager,

Of my bones,

Borrowed this body,

For a short time,

Between the malady,

Of rhyme,

Skirting truth,

The ice grows thin,

Reminisence of  youth,

In winter’s grin,

Pen hand dips,

To hidden wells,

The mask lightly slips,

With my poker tells,

It will find it’s way,

To each his own,

No bird in hand,

For it has flown,

But hope still lives,

In my baited breath,

For the moonlight gives,

A gentle death…
