Learning To FLy

Tree line visions in the mountains of my heart

2,000 miles of ocean now set my feet apart

Yet pine bough scented memories fade

For the salty wind I have made a trade

No more ice and snowy peaks

Just the blush of sun upon my cheeks

I hold no regrets or lonely sighs

In a heart reprieved by sunny skies

To count the stars of an evening

With a blissful dreaming

And know the flight of an egret’s wing

To hear the trade winds sing

Oh to leave behind the safe and sound

For a dream more lovely and profound

Is what awaits the spirit free to soar

Without restraint, to fear no more
