Graffiti

On an old weathered wall

Of aging concrete and rusted re-bar

A new generation of prophets

Are writing their scriptures

Loops and whorls of arcane words

Weeping tears of rain like sacrament

Spray painted Eulogy

For the fire side, the glacier melt

Irony in the aerosol

Messages of peace and love

Jostle among the squabbling

Of hate for the sake of hurt

Crude sexual suggestions

All of it enveloped with a color splash

A pervading, overriding sense of fun

Humor twisted like a wry smile

Light of heart, yet weary of soul

Scattering initials of bygone lovers

Like leaves in the autumn wood

The big wall stood a monument

To the King of the Concrete Jungle
