Evening Wind

Sundown, cars swish passed

Broken fence line’s, jagged shadow cast

Down on the grass, a lingering heat

Where cut-off jeans have found a seat

Shimmering red dancers, in a western cloud

Silently, a breath of dusk, a stary gown

Ladies of the evening, in their glittering array

Dance the dance of waves, on the shores of day

Sweet trade wind stirring, the scent of jasmine

A perfect moment to reside in

Filling lungs and body, each cell to thirst

Till the feeling from parted lips will burst

In a sigh, a song, a whispered prose

As the light around me softly glows
