Songs Of Rain

Rain washes away the memory of last night’s dreaming

As I rub the sleep from my eyes

Misty skirts on the mountain steaming

Grey and brooding skies

I always did enjoy the stormy weather days

When wind and water own the land

Smile into the gloomy haze

Over a coffee cup to warm my hands

And here the rain is warm and kind

Though it lashes red earth hills

Soothes the pain and calms the mind

As puddles slowly fill

Outside my bare toes find the pools

On a warm Autumn street

I prance around like a moonstruck fool

Wet happy feet

I listen to the poetry of raindrop rhyme

Set down with Mother Nature’s pen

I tap my foot to keep the time

And fill my coffee cup again
