The Morning Walk

Loving handful, chunky thighs

Heavy lids cover sweet blue eyes

Ylang Ylang boughs that dapple shade

In the hammock mommy’s arms have made

A cockel’s crow and a mockingbird

On the shores of sleep are lightly heard

Only briefly do they furrow the brow

As the tiny chin is sinking down

Trade wind whispers in a fuzzy ear

Saying hush little baby, I am here

And a smile touches lightly the drowsy lips

As a little boy sets sail, on dreaming ships
