Lady Skykomish

She was like water

When I tried to hold her, she slipped

Dripped

From my hands

Her hips like the river, swayed

This way and that

With a swish of silk skirts

Shhhh

It seemed to say

Blue eyes chuckled

Even when her lips did not

Sparkling, like sun on the waves

In a little mountain stream

Cool to the touch

To the lips

When I was parched

A long drink

Refreshing

With a slight taste of moss

But one day the winter came

coldly to that sunny gaze

Ice formed on the darkened banks

Of her iris

And I slipped

Broke my heart

On her shore
