Steps In Darkness Pt. 2

I stood upon cold barren stone
In crowded thought I waged alone
Watched there a cloud bank fast recede
From the mountain tops, away from me
Like the whole world fled and left me there
With my chest flayed open, heart laid bare
My mouth a gaping wound of words
That bled upon the song of birds
Poems that lashed the summer sky
Where the girl I was had come to die
A woman arose from smoldering death
Burnt and scarred, but full of breath
