Lucid Dreams of Life

Send the Siren who will croon to my blood

Knowledge of how to ride this flood

For a storm comes again, though not in violence

It rages now in stealthy silence

Tides growing restless on receding shores

Selling redemption on the streets, and in the stores

Waves and walls will come crashing down

Those who can’t swim with the current, will drown

So I am summoning Olde songs of creation, rebirth

The clarion call that long ago awakened this earth

Instruct me once again to embody tempest wind

For learning how wings fly, is a genesis within

A willingness to fall, yet the courage to leap

I will look to your wisdom when I sleep

My heartbeat recalls drums on the savanna, I dance

As stars wheel above me, in epiphany’s glance

To Be Or Not To Be, Is Never A Question

I am, I was, and I will always be

Though in this haze obscured, often hard to believe

For this cacophony of souls sometimes will drown or disguise

The animal crouching behind green eyes

To suggest that I have forgotten the blade

Or vows freely spoken in those empty glades

Is to belittle this heart I have chosen to save

All that I stand for, and all that I gave

Forged in fire, in flood.. in bliss

I am your thorn, your dream, your kiss

I am this person, an accumulation of time

I am freely yours, but I am always mine

Lost Ones, Found

Lost Ones, Found

Rain washes me clean
Though I am dry in the lee
Of this porch, of the wind
Of a past I rescind
This moment is mine
The echo, a sign
That my hollow places
Scars and traces
Are not so far behind
That they cease to bind
Although I am learning
This glorious burning
Feeds decadence and decay
The way we all pray
To our own saving grace
In our own silent place
Where we confront our story
Beside transcendence, and glory
So I write, to spite
Darkness and light
Recalling that society
And also piety
Are constructs of fear
Divinity is near
Not found in perspective
Or a comfortable elective
Your soul is your own
A struggle, wisdom grown
From all that you were
Those paths that diverged
Led you unerringly here
There is no need to fear
Be all that you are
An unnamed star
Shine alone, while those deride
For it is in solace that you reside
where you most presently become
A contribution to the sum

Reflection

The smile that is reflected in the mirror has a twist, an unintentional smirk
At the irony of life, how our light
Is found on the darkest inner pathways we walk

To be honest with yourself is a monumental effort requiring bravery
Facing your demons with nothing to arm yourself with but a sharp wit and steel spine
Perhaps that is what makes you… Or breaks you

We all slip on our assent up the mountains within us
To persevere or to surrender is one of the few choices we possess
In this world revolving, spinning madly in a void
Of space we maintain around the orbits of others

#me too

My response to the movement happening. I’m not on twitter or Facebook or any other media outlet other than this blog so… this is what I have to offer

Not a sob story but a reminder that woman have been fighting this quietly for a long while, and Ani just… says things honestly

So here

Backyard Reflections

IMG_0679Back yard reflections

Of a squirrel’s scolding

Or the painted crown moldings

My hands and knees black with earth

Wages paid in callouses

Long stretches of back road

Poetry, my heavy load

Each step a drum- beat rhythm

Alone, I was a mountain

Beaten by the wind

Growing thicker skin

Storm dancing, in solitude

Those are the moments that make you

With heart wide open, wanting

At all the world’s beauty flaunting

Leaping from your own peaks, to soar

A good place to learn your power

When silence begs introspection

Noting the fractal, the inflection

Teaching your ears to see and your eyes to paint

Yet I shall never return

To valleys of red cedar and pine

That passive state of mind

I would rather be a Tiger, than a Rose

*this was my view on the back porch today, and the reflections of the Lilly and the sky shimmering slightly with the wind made me… reflective.

I wrote this about my childhood in the Cascade Mountains of Washington

It Was Late In the Evening

An acute progression of time

Moments compressing in memory until…

Only impression remains

The ghost of a name

A lifetime confounded by pathways

Choices

Made in the darkness, when you believed

In your own light

How silence became a challenge

To speak your mind to the wind

How has it come to pass

That one who’s bare foot was knowing in the moss

Now at a loss

For a scent to follow?

A snake mayhap, though once a tiger

Still I move amoungst the grass

Knowing in my age, my page

The Hunt is in my breath

It’s not my poetry that whispers, it is the wind

Inside me

When a flower blooms, my petals unfold

I feed the hungry bees who come to glut

They in turn pollinate the blooms of another

As they flit out across the luscious, intercontinental web of meadows

Of WordPress-

As if one could press, squeeze the fruits of my knowledge

Into a simple post

Please

I am not so easily quaffed

Still…

I offer this stream to you

Of consciousness flowing clear and true

To sip and wash the salt away

From the ocean of apathy you keep at bay
